Why FabAfterRehab?

I am going to be blunt. My mission is bold but simple. FabAfterRehab was created to help women who have everything they can possibly want but are unhappy.  Big taboo!  A golden cage is still a cage and I walked that walk.  So now I can do the talk. And reach a helping hand.

A golden cage is still a cage, which deprives us of our freedom.  If we experience certain life events or if we have to inhibit natural behavior that keep us from developing all the aspects of our personality and essential being, it can cause burnout, depression, or addictions of all kind.
And when that happens to us, while we are living an apparently perfect life, the guilt can be overwhelming and can hold us back to listen to our soul.
How do you explain to people that you are unhappy while you live in good economic circumstances, when you have had excellent education and a trauma-free childhood, when you are in a solid marriage with a loving partner?
Feeling unhappy is not just influenced by the conditions of the “cage”, but also and above all by the nature of the person that lives in it. Our nature or instinct doesn’t respond to logic but to our biological needs.

Let’s get real for a sec.  We all have our ups and downs.  And when the ups significantly outnumber the downs, we can still call ourselves a happy – or at least a satisfied – person. But what if it is the other way around? Then you are in trouble, my friend.

I was burned out and lost.  To be honest…  I started to show some strange behaviour to numb the pain and the loneliness. Until I realized that I had a very real chance of staying down and never getting up again if I continued like that. I wasn’t ready to give up on my dreams.  So, I took drastic measurements and I checked myself into a facility in Cape Town to get over my depression.  Until today, I still believe that the cure was worse than the disease… for me, that is.

Remember the story about the Thornbirds?

“There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree and does not rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine. And, dying, it rises above its own agony to outcarol the lark and the nightingale. One superlative song, existence the price. But the whole world stills to listen, and God in His heaven smiles. For the best is only bought at the cost of great pain… Or so says the legend.”

But when we press the thorn to our chest, we know…

How about you? Do you know… ?

  • Do you have the feeling that you live in a golden cage?
  • Do you want more out of your life?
  • Are you filled with emptiness?
  • Are you stuck … for whatever reason?
  • Do you also feel a “gap”?
  • Do you wonder what your mission in life is?
  • Do you recognize yourself in my story?

If you drink too much, shop too much, play too much to numb your pain or your anxiety, if you allow other people to cross your limits time and time again,  or you look for other things outside yourself to fill the gap in your stomach… you know.

There are options.  You don’t have to continue like this.  There is a way out.  If you do not want to check into a facility, there is other help available.

Reach out to me and I will help you to make sure it does not have to get worse.  Together we can find a solution that will give you that feeling of fullfillment.  You matter.
